Level 85 already. I think they should just cut the crap and up the level to 200. See who falls by the wayside then, eh? Separate the winners from the whiners, eh?

And so now mounts are going to have skills and levels, too. Playing this game is going to feel like piloting a 737. Hopefully they'll offer an option where you can minimize the screen image to a thumbnail and fill your UI with command panels.

But then I guess horses wanna play, too.

And they are allowing you to use your skirmish soldier everywhere, it's gonna be so LAME

Of course this being turbine, by the time they get around to releasing their shoddy buggy wares there will be no mounted combat, the skirmish soldier thing will have been tossed out, there will be hardly any epic quest in it and barely enough other quests to actually hit level 85. Then you have to take in to consideration that they probably will have no new instances until 3 months after the expansion is released and they will no doubt rejig their point system again to ensure you must grind even harder than ever before to get a tooth brush!

Not that I am skeptical or anything...

I didn't see the part about being able to use your skirmish soldier everywhere. In Guild Wars they instituted an "ally" system where you could use up to 3 npc companions wherever you wanted. This was a consolation to the players who preferred to solo, since GW was notorious for requiring fellowships to get much of anything done. That enhanced socialization and guilds but made it hard for players who didn't want to participate that much socially.

The difference in GW is that you could actually control the ally: you could set up their skill sets, providing them distinctive builds, as well as give them particular sets of armor & weapons. You could also order them around geographically, flag them out to stay in one stance, etc. It became apparent that many of these npc allies out performed real players, particularly healers. This opened up the game in some ways but it definitely reduced the necessity for social groups, which predictably resulted in reduced social interaction.

The current skirmish soldiers are idiotic at best and their expansion into the game as a whole would not be welcomed by me. Particularly if quests and such are then scaled to greater difficulty based on the assumption you have some kind of useful support from your slave.

Turbine seems to be caught up in the notion that they need to make the game more complex as they add more content. Too bad they don't just rely on quality content instead.
